The Kennedy Ranges near Mooka Creek (about 100 miles inland from Carnarvon) in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia.

The word "Mooka" comes from a local Aboriginal Australian term meaning "Running Waters" which references the numerous springs feeding the area.

Unlike Volcanic Jasper's, Mookaite formed from fossilised skeletal remains of microscopic marine organisms called Radiolaria mixed with Silca and Iron Oxides over 100 million years ago.
